Nestled at the base of majestic Thunder Mountain in the peaceful Black Hills of South Dakota, Jake’s House 2 is a place of rest, comfort, and gentle healing for parents and families walking through the deep valley of loss. Created in memory of our son, Jake Anderson, and in honor of all beloved children gone too soon. This home offers a safe, welcoming space to step away from the demands of daily life and simply breathe.
Here, the beauty of God’s creation surrounds you—the whispering pines, mountain view’s, wildlife out the front door and the stillness of star-filled nights. Whether you come to weep, to pray, to remember, or to simply be, Jake’s House 2 holds space for your grief and honors your journey.
Our mission is to offer short-term stays free from pressure and filled with peace—where families can find moments of rest, reflection, and perhaps a glimmer of hope in the midst of sorrow.

JAKE'S STORY
Jacob Anderson grew up in Woodbury, Minnesota and had a great love for life. He had a twinkle in his eye and a smile that would light up a room. The most important things to Jake were his faith in God and his love for family and friends. He also had a great sense of humor and loved turning everything into a game.
During his high school years, Jake experienced several mission trips. The visit to the Robin's Nest Children's Home in 2001, was one of his favorites. He fell in love with the children at the Nest and was touched by their needs.
In 2004, Jacob was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease and after complications with a chemotherapy drug, passed into heaven at the young age of 23. Jake's family knew how much he loved children, but not until the last weeks of his life did they understand how much he wanted his own children. To honor Jacob, his brother Joshua set up an annual benefit to raise money for the Robins Nest Children's Home. After several benefits and donations, enough money was raised to build the original Jake's House in Jamaica.

JAKE'S HOUSE 2
Back in 2013, our son Joshua came out to our Black Hills property with us and told us about his dream of having a little cabin here, along with the house we thought we might build.
At the time however, we were actually talking about selling the property so that we could stay closer to him and family in Minnesota. But Joshua quickly stopped us in our tracks—he reminded us that we’d been dreaming of living out here for as long as he could remember and we couldn’t let that dream die. He was so right! God had a bigger plan. In 2017, we finally built our dream home and have loved every minute! ❤️
Last year, the “little cabin” became a new vision, Jake’s House 2.
